Holidays With Help

Holidays with Help provide respite care breaks for disabled people and their carers.

The charity was formed in 2000 by a group of British Red Cross Society members with over thirty years experience in organising holidays for large numbers of people with disabilities.

Our breaks are organised at specific times of the year in comfortable accommodation at holiday centres with ensuite bathrooms, TV and tea and coffee making facilties. Three meals a day are provided including vegetarian options.

Groups, individuals, couples or families

As well as groups, we welcome bookings from single people, couples or families who can enjoy a holiday, safe in the knowledge that adequate care and support is in place through trained and experienced helpers. Medical and nursing advice is available should it be needed, together with friendly and caring helpers trained in wheelchair management. Mobility scooters and wheelchairs are also available for hire.

As support systems are provided by trained helpers, carers do not have to accompany guests but are very welcome if they wish to do so. A full consultation is carried out with all prospective guests prior to booking to ensure that all their needs can be met. Where applicable, helpers with specific experience of ethnic groups would be available.

In the past, we have welcomed guests with Indian, Armenian, Bosnian and Kurdish backgrounds.

Visits to local places of interest and shopping trips are organised during the week using special coaches with tail lifts.

Special needs

Consultations are carried out with all guests prior to booking to ensure that their needs can be met. This includes medical and dietary requirements, necessity for a translator and any other specific needs.
